Charles Keith. Mr Goudas (I saw special qualities in this man)

Charles Keith passed away on Monday, May 29, 2006 around 7:00 p.m.

Charles joined the Goudas Foods Organization a few years ago after working as a representative of Pepsi Jamaica in Canada.

Since Pepsi Jamaica endowed Goudas Foods with the distribution rights for their products and Charles appeared at the time to be an excellent and knowledgeable salesman, and since he was very highly recommended by Stella Rosen, Executive of Pepsi Americas, he was the ideal candidate for a vacancy within the organization.

I saw special qualities in this man.
His personality, appearance, behaviour, politeness, mannerisms, and that well-spoken, yet soft-spoken highly Jamaican accented powerful voice gave me the impression that he was very capable of handling key accounts such as: Highland Farms, Galati, Shoppers Drug Mart, Zellers, Food Basics, Price Choppers, Niceys, in addition to many independent stores to promote D&G, Ting, pink Ginger Beer and other related products from Pepsi Jamaica, including Cydrax and Peardrax.

My expectations materialized when he quickly became acquainted and familiarized with the rest of the sales team, head office personnel and mastered the products categories within a short period of time.

Charles was always friendly and polite with his clients who genuinely admired him and his work ethics.

It was a mere two weeks ago that he attended the regularly scheduled sales meeting.
Ironically, it was at that time that he requested my permission to leave early because he was not feeling well. In hindsight, no one could have ever imagined that it would be the last sales meeting that he would be attending.

It is sad that a long term dream of both Charles and I has come to such a sudden end.

I recall my visit with Charles at the Hospital the day before he passed away.
Upon recognizing me, he said Hi, Peter! Thank you for coming.
When I asked him if he were returning to work any time soon to booster his spirits and provoke conversation, he responded Yeah monn!

However, deep inside I was heartbroken to see that a man of such stature had deteriorated in such a short time span.

It is very hard to come to terms with the reality and tragicness of this situation and to accept the facts of the unfairness of life.

Panos and I ware the last visitors he had beside his family.

Charles will forever be embedded in our hearts and our minds.

On behalf of the Goudas Foods organization, clients and friends he made along the way, we deeply and sincerely convey our condolences to his widow, his sons and family members he has left behind.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen.

With deepest regret, Spyros Peter Goudas
