The Feed The Piura Community Fundraising Event was held on Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Ellas Banquet Hall, 35 Danforth Road, Scarborough, Ontario.

The revolving photos captured moments of this memorable event.

In one of the photos, you see Mr. Kladitis, Mrs. Vasiliki Aphantitis and Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas.

This photo was taken in 2007 during the discussion of the project, events that happened in the past and, hopefully, what the future projections would be.

Mr. Nicholas Kladitis and Vasiliki Aphantitis. As you may see, Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas is totally serious about these matters. He never intends to start something he can not finish.

As you may see, Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas is totally serious about these matters.
He never intends to start something he can not finish.
The Feed the Piura Project is not a one time situation, not a one day feeding project but it is a daily event.

Therefore, the decision made here is a very serious commitment on his behalf.

The following is a short biograhy of Mr. Nicholas Kladitis and Mrs. Vasiliki Aphantitis.

Mr. Kladitis came to Canada in 1960 from Rodos Island Greece.

He was employed by Air Canada for many years and has travelled around the world.
On one of his trips to Peru, he came across a town called Piura, one hour flight from Lima, where the need for support to the underprivileged, especially the children was a great necessity.

Therefore, in 1988 he created an organization along with Vasiliki Aphantitis who came to Canada in 1966 and was employed with the same air line, from Nicosia Cyprus, to feed and support the children.

The article below was iniatially posted on www.FlyerMall.com the largest website in the world portraying companies and visited by over one million viewers weekly.

Let us stop for a moment and explain the purpose of this particular link:  PERU MISSION.
This link takes you to a world you may not know existed.

We will not tell you how beautiful Peru is or the weather conditions, the hills, the beaches, the beauty of its natural surroundings.
We will not detail the exploits of Francisco Pizarro Gonzales from Spain and his discovery of northern Peru in April 1528.

We will, however, tell you that in recent years, two great friends and retired flight attendants during the course of their employment discovered for themselves an area in Peru called Piura.

Mr. Nikos Kladitis and Mrs. Vasiliki Aphantitis had a dream upon retirement.
Since they had no plans to go fishing or build the garden of their dreams, they wanted to do something concrete for the rest of their lives.

They found so many hungry children that they decided to build up a small unit and to provide food for approximately 300 to 400 children.  The food requirements have increased daily.

Consequently, Mr. Kladitis and Mrs Aphantitis sought assistance in providing for the hungry.
Therefore, like that famous song from Ghostbusters, Who do you call?   Mr. Goudas, of course.
That hard working, entrepreneur and philanthropist who never turns away a legitimate, needy cause.

In one the photos you see them sitting around a table discussing the financing, funding and future of the Feed Piura Project.

In the years that followed, Mr. Kladitis and Mrs. Aphantitis have subsequently developed a similar program in the island of Cuba where the need is even more intense.

To top up the needs over and above what their pension facilitates and the contribution of Spyros Peter Goudas, they have undertaken an annual Fundraising Event to provide for the deficit.

During one of these events, since Mr. Goudas is a major sponsor, he was invited to attend.

Upon scanning the photos you will see that the event is well attended with supporters to the cause.

Mrs. Vasiliki Aphantitis spoke about the event, the need for support and provided a powerpoint presentation with photos and videos from both countries.

She also entertained the crowd with the famous ABBA song, I have a dream.
I hope you had the chance to link into the song and you maybe realize that it is one of the greatest songs of all time.
However, when Mrs. Aphantitis sang this song it appeared that the words did not come from her mouth, but directely from her heart since she was fulfilling her dream in feeding the children of Piura, Peru and Cuba.

According to Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas, Mrs. Vasiliki Aphantitis has been found her Shangri-La

In the novel,  Lost Horizon, the people who live at Shangri-La are almost immortal, living years beyond the normal lifespan and only very slowly aging in appearance.

You must see the movie, called Lost Horizon, of 1937 by director Frank Capra.
Alternate Ending to be seen after nearly 80yrs of it's release.

She has a very good voice.  By the way, this song is a favourite of Spyros Peter Goudas.

Upon completion of the song,  Mrs. Aphantitis introduced Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas in the following manner.

Dear Kids, Ladies and Gentlemen:

Our organization has the privilege tonight to have in attendance, Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas.

Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas whom we all know is a crabby, crabby old man, who arrived in Canada in 1967, Canada’s centennial year.

Would you believe that he experienced a period of homelessness back then and slept on the streets of Toronto, around City Hall, without friends, money or knowledge of English.

However, once that bad spell was over, he established himself (by working not 1 or 2 but 3 jobs).
He was able to buy himself a small store in Kensington Market and from that moment on, he has dedicated his life to producing the best food products the world has ever known.

He has literally condemned himself to his own business prison creating a food empire, producing products from all over the world. Working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, non stop.

And for what!   To have his products in every supermarket aisle, to bring the best the world has to offer to your dinner table.

He obtains satisfaction knowing that people of all nationalities love these products.

Since publishing his biography (The Immigrant),SPYROS PETER GOUDAS everyone will know what he looks like. Nevertheless, he always finds the time to support worthy causes like Senior Citizens Associations, Charitable Organizations, Student Awards, Food Banks. These are just a few examples. Some people think that he is from China, India, or Guyana, etc., etc.
They do not really know he is from Kalamaki, Athens, Greece.

His father is from Grammeno, Ioanina, Greece.

Since publishing his biography (The Immigrant), everyone will know what he looks like.

Nevertheless, he always finds the time to support worthy causes like Senior Citizens Associations, Charitable Organizations, Student Awards, Food Banks, disasters around the globe, orphanages, feeding the homeless in our city, etc., etc.

These are just a few examples.

He is like a machine.  But God told him to slow down.

He did not listen.

Then one morning God made him sneeze so hard, his spine expanded and a nerve cut in between.
He was basically paralyzed from the waist down for a long period of time.
He could not even use the hula hoop
.

Nevertheless, you can not put a stubborn, tough, cookie like him totally out of commission.

He enlisted a couple of fast gun secretaries who toiled endlessly with his grumpiness because of the immensity of his back pain and produced more than 30 or 40 state-of-the-art booklets ranging in topics from:  How to make Greek Coffee, to:  How to make Indian Samosas  to:  Miracles Still Do Happen!

The funny part is, although he was in enormous pain, all the booklets are written in a comedy format.
Some of them are considered to be the best books ever written including The Cow Foot Story and the Canada Geese Story.

All these books are on display in the front lobby and they are free of charge  including his biography presented and distributed by his Cambodian body guard Chantal and a world champion in tavli (backgammon).

Nevertheless, he feels much better now.  He can walk again without the assistance of a cane and has God’s permission to attend this ceremony tonight.
For the past couple years, our non-profit organization has had the privilege of his support.

Ladies, Gentleman, Students and Kids:  Mr. Spyros Peter Goudas.

Mr. Goudas always in his speeches give credit to the parties involved and in this instance he added Nikos Kladitis and Vasiliki Aphantitis and recommends them for a Nobel Peace Prize for their Humanitarian efforts.

This is similar to the latest speech to the Caregivers Association of Canada where within the speech he gave credit to Sophie Hui, Pastor Alex and Rosie Pacis, members of the team who assisted him with the distribution of donated foods to the victims of the disaster in the Philippines with Typhoon Haiyan, and Belle Ganzon to be a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, as a result of her Humanitarian efforts "Touch of Love" feeding program, which provides Mr Goudas meals and caters to the needs of the homeless and unprivileged in the city.

The speech was related to the devastating effects of Typhoon Haiyan on the Philippines.
Should you have the time, you may view this event and his latest speech by clicking on photo below.

 We thank you.

I am employed as a Security Guard at the building where Spyros Peter Goudas' factory is located. In fact, I am his body guard. Since the night is long and lonely, Spyros Peter Goudas was working in his office as usual. This was not a surprise to me because the other Security Guards mentioned that he is always working even at 2, 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning.

What Canada Would Be Without Mr. Goudas?
