IN MEMORY OF MR. PASQUALE D'AVERSA BY SPYROS PETER GOUDAS
FRIENDS, MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS OF WWW.FLYERMALL.COM
It is with a deep sense of sadness that we announce the passing of
Mr. Pasquale D’Aversa on May 31, 2007 at the age of 65.
For all of you who have had the opportunity to have your first cup of Espresso or Cappuccino at 4:00 a.m before going to work, obviously you will never forget his wonderful smiling face.
For those of you who have only heard the name and sampled his wonderful creations, we do not have to ask your opinion of him, we know that you have loved and respected him.
Born in Veroli, Frosinone Italy in 1942, he immigrated to Canada in 1965.
Back then, Toronto was a very small city.
He worked very hard and in 1969, along with his partners, opened the first Nino D’Aversa Bakery in the very northern part of the city. At that time the Keele and Finch area was considered practically out of town. It was the last major intersection before the farmlands began.
Mr. Pasquale D’Aversa was a pioneer in the creation of the most wonderful Italian breads, buns and cakes.
Over the years, his company expanded to 2 other locations:
Yonge and Steeles, and Kipling and Highway 7 in Woodbridge.
He was a gentleman. Generous, kind and respected not only by his family, but also by thousands of his customers, some of whom made it an event to go to the bakery just to say hello to him.
He was always there from the early hours, only absent when he made a trip to his homeland.
Now he is making his final journey, not to Italy, but to heaven.
His smile, instilled in our memory, will live on forever.
As his obituary states: He was loved by so many and had a heart of gold.
We would like to give you an idea of the generosity of this man.
A few years ago at the Anniversary Celebration of www.flymermall.com at the Rizzo Hall, the D’Aversa Bakery donated all the bread, buns and cakes for the thousands in attendance.
Words cannot describe the void caused by the loss of this great man.
To pay your respects: The family will receive friends at: Fratelli Vescio Funeral Homes Ltd. 905-850-3332 8101 Weston Road, south of Langstaff Road Sunday, June 3, 2007 - 2 – 4 p.m. 6 – 9 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church 300 Ansley Grove Road, north of Chancellor Drive.
We extend our sincerest condolences to his wife and family.
Regards, Bernadette & Peter Spyros Goudas
